🇪🇸 RD 1112/2018

The websites of the Spanish public sector are required to comply with the accessibility rules provided by Royal Decree 1112/2018.

Unlike other national guidelines, the measure explicitly regulates the accessibility to websites and mobile applications of national, regional, and local administrations, up to services provided for the public sector in education and health.

The RD 1112/2018 is in line with the European directive, the Web Accessibility Directive, to avoid as much as possible the fragmentation of standards and promote the interoperability of the resources and techniques used.

The technical guidelines are based on the WCAG 2.0 AA standard. In addition to complying with them, public administration websites must also publish an ICT Accessibility Certification.

The guidelines and compliance with the Web accessibility criteria of the Spanish public sector are issued by the dedicated government portal: Accesibilidad (Portal de Administración Electrónica).
